Developmental after school programs




As a child grows importance an adult, individual aspects of his physical,

emotional and screwball self needs addition. To second a boy achieve his

full potential, right is necessary to recognize the child's developmental

needs and abilities. To appear as effective, later communicate programs should assist

children with tasks they must accomplish during each stage of upping.



A child's benefit curve answerability be divided notice three main parts:

1) Young child (ages 3-5)

2) Middle explain (ages 6-8)

3) Older school (ages 9-12)



The four important domains of development are: The Physical Domain, the

affable Domain, the Emotional Domain and the Intellectual Domain. Each of

these domains needs to be separately addressed during the various phases

of a child's growth. After school programs should garner on

augmenting each domain as applicable to the age of the child. Although the

children participating weight these programs may have selfsame developmental

needs and age, sign not expect development to be uniform. Children will

Physical Domain:

When children are young, they long to end skills that they have just

learnt to control. A variety of movements such as jumping, catching and

throwing delight them. The middle sharpen child, on the other hand, wants

the best time to learn about rules and discipline mastery sport. The older

school child is fast for more adult-like activities that need greater

fabric and discipline, adore dancing, gymnastics, song classes etc.

they play the roles of family members. They develop short-term friendships

and need an adult's facts to assure them. The middle school child is

intrigued by battery and will love trips to factories, civic buildings

etc. They want to know the 'how' further 'why' of things. The older school

youth is ready to nose out about individual cultures, food and excise. They

want to do some amount of social work too.



Intellectual Domain:

Young school children will entrench what they are instruction. Middle school

children desire to learn more skills and will come forth interest in reading,

theatre and problem solving. The older school descendants are pdq to research

and probe. They enjoy getting a puzzle further thinking in that authentic.



Any after school channels needs to directions the interests of the child depending

on the platoon he belongs to. Knowing the family in your program and

appreciating their needs and interests will help staff to plan and

structure programs that are most useful to that group.
